The Department of Tourism Region VI brought Western Visayas to Ayala Center Cebu as Region 6 participated in the International Travel Festival on July 15-17, 2016.
ITF is a venue for tourism practitioners and local consumers to discover the latest travel trends and newest destinations. This year, more exhibitors joined the travel show including Travel Agencies, Tour Operators, Airlines, Cruises Liners, Hotels and Resorts, Travel Insurance, Theme Parks, Recreational Facilities, Tourism Promotions Organization/Associations, Foreign National Tourism Offices (NTOs), Frequent Flyer Programme and Travel Product Supplier/Magazine from the different regions in the country and international.
DOT Region VI Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas is positive every travel fair/exhibit is an opportunity to sell and promote Western Visayas services and products. She said DOT VI intensifies its promotions and marketing as the goal for this year’s key programs consist of tourist arrivals, BUB process, trainings and seminars increased.
“Western Visayas targets 4.8-million tourists for 2016 and attendance to various travel fairs/exhibits will greatly help in realizing this goal. Apart from attracting more visitors, this will also encourage local government units to establish tourism-related programs and facilities that will further enhance the visitor’s experience on their respective tourism destinations”, Director Catalbas emphasized.
DOT Region VI is set to join 2nd Western Visayas Tourism Business Mission in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand in August, Philippine Travel Mart and International Diving and Resort Travel Show in September and assist in cruise ship arrivals and numerous familiarization tours in Boracay Island.
